<image:title>About - BACKGROUND</image:title>
<image:caption>Shannon was born in Miami, Florida and grew up in Boca Raton, Florida. She is the eldest of three children and has always considered herself lucky to be a part of an active family. Her mother, Cheryl, who also teaches fitness and Pilates, has been teaching group exercise classes since the 80’s and her father was a collegiate athlete. Her sister, Brittany, owned a successful dance studio in Boca Raton, Florida, and has become one of the most recognized choreographers in the country teaching weekly at Club Dance in Queen Creek, AZ. Her brother, Zach, was once a top Orange Theory Fitness coach in south Florida and now has a successful strength and conditioning gym in Boca Raton, Florida. Shannon trained in classical ballet from the age of three, and later studied all forms of dance competing all over the country. Swimming and diving since age nine, Shannon was a four-time high school All American in springboard and platform diving. She anchored the 50-meter and 100-meter relays in swimming competing in the state finals for swimming and diving for four consecutive years. She also enjoyed training and competing in track and field events. She anchored the 100-meter and the 200-meter relays and earned a spot in the State Championship Finals at the University of Florida. A scholarship athlete and team captain diving for Boston College, Shannon qualified and competed in the NCAA and The East Coast Championships during her four years at Boston College. Shannon was fortunate enough to train with Olympic greats at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center in Boca Raton, Florida and the Olympic training facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - PILATES TRAINING</image:title>
<image:caption>Shannon took her first Pilates Mat class at New York Sports Club in New York City in 2001 and has been studying it ever since. She was amazed at how quickly Pilates improved her posture, reduced chronic pain from old injuries and how strong it made her feel. She was fascinated by Joseph Pilates and the modality he created called Contrology. She began her Pilates Mat and Apparatus certification program in New York City and completed the program in south Florida. She was so excited to be able to teach and help others improve their posture, health, strength, flexibility, mindset and overall wellness.</image:caption>

<image:title>Pilates - What is Pilates?</image:title>
<image:caption>Joseph Pilates created a type of movement called Contrology, which is a challenging low impact exercise method that balances strength with mobility, aligns the body, fine-tunes movement patterns, and strengthens the deeper muscles of the core. Pilates aligns your entire body’s overall structure and supports its joints. What appears to look simple can be deceptively challenging and incredibly effective when done correctly with proper form. Pilates is a low impact exercise that creates optimal strength through muscle balance and fine-tuning neuromuscular patterns. The optimal strength gained from a consistent Pilates practice is nonrigid, balancing strength with mobility and flexibility. It helps you move and breathe through your daily activities with more freedom and power and less pain. Flexibility is the amount of passive stretch in a muscle. Mobility is the range of motion at a joint. Good mobility requires flexibility, but also strength. You need a balance of strength and flexibility to optimize mobility. Below are just a few benefits of regular Pilates practice…. Increased Core Strength Improves Posture & Cognitive Function Decreases Back/Joint Pain and Stress Prevents Injuries Increased Energy Level Improves Body Awareness Improves Balance Boosts Immunity Improves Motivation & Sleep Enhances Sports Performance Strengthens Skeletal Structure Boosts Mood</image:caption>
